| My grandfather Homer Rice served on the electra during WWII and I wanted to add his name to the list but it keeps saying error so I am adding him here. If anyone knew him I would appreciate any information you have...he also has quite a few pictures I would like to add to the site. | My error I am again submitting a correction to my Shipboard Service Dates. Our entire L Division (Landing Craft) came aboard in July 1943. We all had trained together for three months in ATB Little Creek, VA and then for three months in ATB Ft. Pierce, FL. before being transferred to the AKA-4. MY CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GREAT JOB YOU HAVE DONE AND ARE DOING ON THE WEB SITE. WELL DONE. | ||

| hey guys how are you im not sure which of you's know my grand father george koestel but i sad to say he passed away on june 20 2007 at 7:10 am im sorry that i didnt post it earlyer i just found this web site and i know that he's been sending in his pic that he had. Just to let you guys know that he went peacefuly and with his family buy his side he had taps played and two navy men folded the flag He loved serving with everyone of you's!!!!!!! | My Father was a crew member on the USS Electra from 5/1944 to 1945. Anyone who knew my father Donald Ross Williams I am not sure what part of the ship he served on. But would enjoy hearing about his tour of duty. My father passed on and did not talk much about the time he was in the navy. | ||

I have been carrying a Zippo lighter, that I purchased in a thrift store, in my pocket since 1979 that bears the USS Electra AKA-4 as well as the ship itself.
